A Collaborative Unleashing of
God's Love Throughout Central VA

For much of history, the Church was a steady and trusted voice in the public square. Churches worked together to shape communities by opening schools, building hospitals, pursuing justice, and meeting real needs with hope and compassion. But today, that voice has been pushed to the margins. In many public spaces, the church’s voice has been quiet or missing altogether.

Yet the need for that voice has never been greater. We are living in a time of deep division, growing anxiety, and spiritual hunger. The voice of the Church is not only relevant. It is essential. But before we can be heard, we must choose to be present.

Mission CVA is a movement of local churches committed to reengaging the public square. Not to win arguments or draw attention to their buildings or programs, but simply to respond to the call of Jesus to go. To go where people gather. To listen with compassion. To think clearly. To serve openly. To speak truth in love.

The public square is not just political. It is deeply relational. By choosing calling over comfort, presence over promotion, and faithfulness over fear, we are showing up in schools, government offices, festivals, community events and community events, with grace, truth, and compassion.

This is not a time to step back. It is a time to step in. The public square is waiting. Join us!

Into Action

In May 2024, with support from our ministry partner Bridging RVA, we tested the Mission CVA concept. Four middle district churches in Powhatan County collaborated on a teacher appreciation event, welcoming anyone who wanted to honor the faculty and staff of Powhatan County Public Schools. Through this effort, we met new people and discovered a shared purpose in the community. Check out this video and join us!
Every Mission CVA initiative concludes with an optional time of reflection, story sharing and prayer.
Partner with us in this community-minded missional effort to live out the Great Commandment right here at home!
